Hindi Song | Salaam-E-Ishq (2006)

Salaam-E-Ishq is a star packed (six couples. twelve lives.) directed by the man who brought us one of most loved movies of 2003, Kal Ho Na Ho, the one and only Nikhil Advani. It's his second film so far, and from all it's star power, you can only guess that Salaam-E-Ishq is going to do very well in the box-office. But how good a movie it is, is yet to be seen. The cast of SEI includes Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Vidya Balan, John Abraham, Akshaye Khanna, Anil Kapoor, Ayesha Takia, Juhi Chawla, Govinda, Isha Koppikar, Shannon Esrechowitz, Sohail Khan, Karan Johar and Anjana Sukhani. Wow!

The music of this film is given by the guys who rocked the world with Don's music earlier this, Shankar Ehsaan Loy. The music is great, very playful and as usual they will rock ya! Enjoy!

Here is another of Himesh Reshammiya's music directions for 2006. Akshaye Khanna plays the main role here alonside Mallika Sherawat, Ayesha Takia, Aftab Shivdasani and Sunil Shetty. Haven't watched the movie yet, however, I have listened to the songs and they are like every other Himesh song.

Hindi Song | Strings - Bound By Faith (2006)

Strings stars Sandhya Mridul, Adam Bedi, Tannishtha Chatterjee and Vineet Kumar in the lead roles. The music of Strings is directed by Zubeen. According to Smashits.com, this is his first film and he has definitely done a great job. The very first thing I noticed when I listened to the songs was that Zubeen has experimented with two different styles in this album; the first three songs (Piya Milan Ko Jaana, Kaise Kaho and Ishq) are quite different from the other three. I personally very much like the second half of the album (i.e. Ramo Ramo, Rimjhim and Mantra). I don't know if it is fair to say so, but I think the last three songs are quite A.R. Remanish in style and that is the kind of music I like. Ramo Ramo is my personal favorite.

Hindi Song | The Killer (2006)

Irfaan Khan is the killer this time, but Emraan Hashmi isn't an undercover cop this time. He is just a regular guy who make a living by driving a cab at night as his second job. Doesn't that story sound familiar to you? It does to me. The Killer is the Bollywood version of the 2004 Hollywood movie Collateral, starring Tom Cruise as The Killer and Jamie Foxx as the cab driver. The lead female role is played by Nisha Kothari.

The movie's music is directed by Sajid Wajid, and he is done quite a good job. Songs are pretty good. I personally like 'O Sanam' a lot. Enough talk from me. Enjoy these songs.

Hindi Song | Tom Dick and Harry (2006)

Here is another addition to Himesh Reshammiya's record of work. I watched the movie Tom Dick and Harry only a few hours ago. Contrary to a lot of the reviews I had read about the movie before, it wasn't actually that bad. At times, it was so hilarious and that is exactly what the makers of this movie set out to do in the first place. I wouldn't say it is among the top comedy movies of Bollywood, it ain't low class either. It has a few very original lines and scenarios. The leading cast of TDH includes Dino Morea, Anuj Sawhney, Jimmy Shergill, and Celina Jaitley.

The music, however, is in the low class. A typical Himesh style of music. There is just one good song in this album, and that is Tanha Jiya Na Jaaye. Ok, you listen to them now, and tell me if I'm wrong!!

Hindi Song | Umrao Jaan (2006)

Umrao Jaan is claimed to be based on a 1904 novel by Mirza Hadi Ruswa titled Umrao Jaan Ada, but it was generally thought to be a remake of the 1989 film with the same title starring Rekha. The new Umrao Jaan stars Aishwarya Rai, Abhishek Bachchan, Shabana Azmi, Suniel Shetty, Puru Rajkumar and Divya Dutta. It is directed by J.P. Dutta.

The music of Umrao Jaan is by Anu Malik. Even though I'm not very fond of this genre of music (don't really know what it is called), I think Mr. Malik has done a pretty good job here. However, the music of the Rekha starrer Umrao Jaan which I for some reason have watched, is much better. I loved the film and the music alike. Rekha was absolutely wonerful. I'm really anxious to see how successfully Aish is going to play the role that was superbly done by Rekha.

Hindi Song | Utthaan (2006)

Utthaan is a movie produced by the famous singer Kumar Sanu, who has also directed the music for the film. Kumar Sanu has sung some of the best songs of the 1990s, one of my personal favorite by Kumar Sanu is Ek Ladki Ko Dekha from 1942 A Love Story.

The cast of Utthaan includes Priyanshu Chatterji and Neha Dhupia in the lead roles, and it is directed by Ujjwal Chatterjee. The music of Utthaan is very similar to that of the 90s movies, but not to the best of that era. I personally am not a fan of such music albums. I recommend you do try the songs at least once and see how you like 'em.

Hindi Song | Vivah (2006)

Starring Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao in the lead roles, Vivah is a story, as the title says, mainly about marriage, but it comes with all the other typical family issues depicted in most Bollywood movies. Being raised by uncle due to parents' death, agreeing to marry to fulfill parents' wishes, blah blah blah. Other major casts of Vivah includes Anupam Kher and Mohnish Bel(?).

Music is by Ravindra Jain, and it is not something I would listen to again. It could actually pretty good for some (I highly doubt that), but it definitely isn't for me. Looking at all the promotional stuff and the music of Vivah, I seriously don't care when it will be released.

Hindi Song | Woh Lamhe (2006)

The pair fom Gangster, Shiny Ahuja and Kangna Ranaut, are back in this new flick by the same writer and producer, Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt, but directed by Mohit Suri. One more person back from the Gangster team is music director, Pritam. Great music again! I specially love the song Bin Tere which was sung by the Pakistani singer, Jawed Ahmad, years back and done again for Woh Lamhe.

Pritam has also directed the music for this year's much awaited Dhoom 2, as well as Ankahee and Fight Club.

Hindi Song | Zindaggi Rocks (2006)

Zindaggi Rocks stars Shiney Ahuja as a shy doctor and the gorgeous Sushmita Sen as a fun loving singer, who despite their differences fall in love, and they live happily ever after. But there is a lot to happen before the happy ending which will be unveiled on October 6 in theatres. The film is directed by Tanuja Chandra, and the person of our interest (for now), the music director, is none other than Anu Malik.

This album is quite fun to listen to. Some songs like the title song are quite fast and will get your body moving, while some like Humko Choone Paas Aayiye have a slower pace. I'm sure the songs will be even more pleasant when we lay our eyes on the videos in the near future. Till then, enjoy the audio!

Hindi Song | Bluffmaster (2005)

Bluffmaster stars Abhishek Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra, Nana Patekar and Ritesh Deshmukh, and it is directed by Rohan Sippy. The music directors are Vishal and Shekhar who have done a really great job. I've always enjoyed listening to them (except a few, of course). Most of the songs in this album seem to be remixes of old songs, or at least that's how I feel. There is even a song (Do Aur Do Paunch) by Kishore Kumar. Btw, does anyone know what language is the song 'Bure Bure/Boro Boro' in? Some of it is Hindi, but majority is not. And somehow this song is one of my favourite from this album.

Hindi Song | Parineeta (2005)

Parineeta is one the best Hindi movies of 2005, and probably one the best of all Hindi movies. Starring Saif Ali Khan, Vidya Balan and Sanjay Dutt, Parineeta has an excellent and original story, as well as its great music. I always enjoy listening to the melodious songs of Parineeta. The movie is directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, and credit for the excellent music goes to Shantanu Moitra. I specially liked Saif's performance. He is at his peak here. Hindi Song | Rang De Basanti (2005)

Here is another one starring Aamir Khan, Rang De Basanti. I don't think I need to say much about what kind of film it is. It was showered with awards and nominations last year. Aamir's co-stars in Range De Basanti are Soha Ali Khan, Waheeda Rehman, Kiran Kher, Om Puri, Anupam Kher, Atul Kulkarni, Kunal Kapoor, Sharman Joshi, and Madhavan.

Music of RDB is directed by the incredible A.R. Rehman who has won our hearts so many times with his wonderful talent. That's exactly what he did with this album. This one has been requested countless times and here it is (finally). Enjoy!!

It's a film by Farhan Akhtar of Dil Chahta Hai and Don fame, starring Hrithik Roshan, Preity Zinta, Sharad Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, and Amrish Puri in major roles. I'm a great admirer of this talented director. I've seen Lakshya but don't remember much, but I'm sure it's a great film.

Music of Lakshya is directed by the fabulous trio Shankar Ehsan Loy. There's one song this album that I really love, Agar Main Kahoon.

Hindi Song | Main Hoon Na (2004)

Main Hoon Na is directorial debut for Farah Khan, who was previously a choreographer. The star cast includes Shahrukh Khan, Zayed Khan, Sushmita Sen, Amrita Rao and Sunil Shetty. Music is by Ranjit Barot and Anu Malik. I think the songs are great, but because I've been exposed to them a lot of times, I have no desire to listen to them again. But I hope you guys enjoy them.

Main Hoon Na is a masala film, which, if not taken seriously, is quite fun to watch. Really interesting action scenes, nice funny lines, and of course Sushmita Sen should be good enough reasons to watch it.

Hindi Song | Murder (2004)

Murder is a film by Anuraag Basu and stars Mallika Sherawat, Emraan Hashmi and Ashmit Patel in lead roles. I haven't watched the film yet, but I have heard and read a lot about it. Most of the views have been positive, and mostly in Mallika's favor. She seems to have done a good job.

The wonderful songs of Murder are composed by Anu Malik. It's a really great album. I love Dil Ko Hazaar Baar and Bheegay Honth Tere the most. I'm sure you will love them.

Hindi Song | Shabd (2004)

This is one movie starring Sanjay Dutt that I didnt like much. The story was quite lame, specially for Sanjay's role, besides I think Sanjay Dutt could have acted a lot better than this. Aishwarya and Zayed Khan have done what they usually do, nothing extra ordinary. However, Shabd's music is nothing like the movie itself. The songs are pretty good. They are composed by Vishal & Shekhar. There are songs for the both ends of the emotional spectrum: sad and happy. Well, enough said. Just download and check 'em out for yourself.

Directed by Nikkil Advani and starring Saif Ali Khan, Shahrukh Khan and Preity Zinta, Kal Ho Naa Ho is/was one of the best movies of 2003 (can't believe it's already been 3 years since it's release), and one of my favorite. I specially like Saif's performance in this movie; compare it with his performance in Dil Chahta Hai and you will see how much he has grown as an actor, and I'm sure as a person as well.

Tere Naam is a film directed by Satish Kaushik and stars Salman Khan and Bhumika Chawla in the lead roles. As the tagline of the film says, it is based on a true love story which hell of a love story. It has a pretty depressing ending, unlike most other love stories. In this film, we get to see Salman Khan with both long hair (a wig :p) and bald.

Suprisingly, Himesh Reshammiya is the music director of Tere Naam. Lucky for us that he wasn't singing a lot (or at all) at the time or else it wouldn't be such a good album.

Hindi Song | Devdas (2002)

Devdas is a remake of a classic hindi movie, it is also a masterpiece on its own. Whenever there is a remake, there definitely will be comparisons of the two versions. In case of Devdas, some people think the older version is better. But I think otherwise. I think Shahrukh khan, as well as Madhuri and Aishwarya have given their best performances ever. The movie is great from every angle you look at it; the music, acting, direction and every other thing is great. That is something you can't deny. It is directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and its music is by Ismail Darbar who has done an excellent job.

Hindi Song | Dil Chahta Hai (2001)

I love everything about Dil Chahta Hai! The music, the cast, the story, script, and everything else in this movie (except a couple maybe). I have watched this movie more than 10 times since it was first released, and everytime I watch it, it feels like it's the first I'm watching it.

Dil Chahta Hai's casts include Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Akshaye Khanna, and the pretty Preity Zinta. I think Aamir and Saif play the most interesting characters of the movie. They are funny, they are bold and most importantly their characters seem so real. I think this movie has something for everyone. You gotta watch this, if you havn't yet. It is directed by Farhan Akhtar, and the music is given by the one and only AR Rahman Shankar Ehsaan Loy (thanks to Anon for correcting me). The songs are great, but you would enjoy them much more if you were listening to them while watching the movie, or at least knowing in what context the songs are sung in the movie. Hindi Song | Lagaan (2001)

Aamir Khan and Ashutosh Gowarikar's Lagaan started a whole new trend of film making in Bollywood that is focussed more on realism and art, than just plain mindless entertainment. Lagaan also proved to be a significant point in the career of his co-star, Gracy Singh. She had only done minor roles in her two previous films, but Lagaan changed everything for her too. For being such an influent and great film with excellent performances and superb diection, Lagaan won 44 awards, including 8 at the Filmfare and a nomination for the Oscars.

The beautiful music of Lagaan is composed by the one and only A.R. Rehman with lyrics from Javed Akhtar. I'm seriously running out of praises for this movie. Every aspect of it is done extremely well. Enjoy the last couple of days of 2007 with these songs. Hindi Song | Mohabbatein (2000)

Mohabbatein was one of the biggest films of 2000 (and probably is still). I guess it's the first movie that starred Shahrukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan together. Other casts includes Aishwarya and whole bunch of then-newcomers; Shamita Shetty, Uday Chopra, Jugal Hansraj, Preeti Jhangiani, Jimmy Shergill and Kim Sharma. Mohabbatein is produced by Yash Chopra and directed by his son Aditya, who recently announced that Shahrukh Khan will not appear in any of their future movies. How sad. Music is by Jatin Lalit.

Since I'm a big SRK fan, I've listened to these songs A LOT. So much that they don't interest me anymore. Just like Main Hoon Na. You be the judge for yourselves.

Hindi Song | Dil Se (1998)

Dil Se is one movie we will all remember for different reasons. We may remember this film for its excellent music by A.R. Rehman that won him another Best Music Director's Award at the FilmFare Awards, for its beautifully choreographed songs by Farah Khan, for the amazing cinematography by Santosh Sivan, for Preity Zinta's first appearance, and lastly for its incredibilly bad results at the box office. Despite the bad box-office results, Dil Se won 5 FilmFare Awards. Manisha Koirala's performance in the movie is also to be praised. She has done a great job and was nominated for Best Actress' Award. Dile Se's famous song 'Chaiyya Chaiyya' recently appeared in the hollywood movie Inside Man directed by Spike Lee. Dil Se is one my favorite SRK films and I love every song of it. I hope you like them too. :p

Hindi Song | Pardes (1997)

Pardes stars Shahrukh Khan, Mahima Chaudhary, Apoorva Agnihotri, Alok Nath and Amrish Puri and is directed by Subhash Ghai. This film is one of my favorite, mainly because of it's songs. Pardes is Mahima Chaudhary's debut film, whose real name is Ritu Chaudhary. Ghai made her change it to something starting with M as he thinks it is lucky for him. He had previously launched Madhuri Dixit and Manisha Koirala, and hence the 'M superstition'.

One stunning fact about Mahima is that she was chosen from 3000 people who auditioned for her role in Pardes. And she did a fantastic job, I don't think anyone could have done it better. She won the Bestcomer's award that year for this role.

As I said before, I like this film mainly because of its great music which is directed by Nadeem Sharavan. Here is your chance to them songs as well. Thanks to those who requested this album.

Hindi Song | Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge a.k.a DDLJ (1995)

Here are the songs of the much talked about Shahrukh Khan and Kajol starrer Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. It is produced by Yash Chopra and directed by his son Aditya Chopra. The cast of DDLJ also includes Anupam Kher, Amrish Puri, Farida Jalal, Parmeet Sethi, Satish Shah, and Mandira Bedi.

DDLJ is one of the most successful films of Bollywood. This film holds the record for longest-running initial release in Indian cinema. It played for over 500 weeks (1995-2005) at the Maratha Mandir theater in Mumbai, more than twice as many weeks as Sholay. DDLJ has won 8 Filmfare Awards, including Best Film, Best Actor and Best Actress. Two more interesting points about DDLJ are: Karan Johar made his acting debut in this film, and it was released on the 25th anniversary of Yash Raj Films.

The music of the film is by Jatin Lalit. The songs are great (according to many :p), but I personally am not into the '90s music. Don't get me wrong, there are some that I love more than any but these songs are not among them. Btw, this album has been requested many many times through emails and comments. Hum Aapke Hain Kaun is one the most requested albums on DHS, so I thought it's about time post it. It stars Salman Khan, Madhuri Dixit, Mohnish Behl, Renuka Shahane, Alok Nath, Reema Lagoo and Anupam Kher and is directed by Sooraj Barjatya.

Music HAHK is created by Ram Laxman. I personally knew this film due to its song Didi Tera Devar Deewana, which got famous in the movie Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Other famous songs of this film are Joote Do Paise Lo and Wah Wah Ramji. This is one of the best movies (and albums) of the '90s. I hope you like it.

Hindi Song | Saajan (1991)

Saajan is a film starring young Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit and Salman Khan in the lead roles. From what I've read about it online, Saajan was a super hit. It is directed by Lawrence D'Souza.

The music directors of Saajan are Nadeem Sharavan (Nadeem Saifi and Sharavan Rathod). If you are into the 90's movies then this album should be a treat for your. Enjoy!

Hindi Song | Chandni (1989)

Chandni is a family/romance film by Yash Chopra, and stars Sridevi, Vinod Khanna, Rishi Kapoor, Waheeda Rehman, Juhi Chawla and Anupam Kher.

Shiv Hari is the music director for Chandni. I haven't been familiar with his music until now, and to be honest I didn't like the songs of Chandni. I am personally not so much into the late '80s and majority of '90s' music. There are some great songs from every decade that can't be ignored, but I see non of such songs in this album. Surprisingly, Shiv Hari won the best music award at the FilmFare Awards for this film, which means I am wrong and this album is a good one. I hope you like it.

Hindi Song | Masoom (1983)

Here's an oldie/classic/golden album for ya'll! Director Shekhar Kapoor started his directorial career with Masoom, and what a start. Starring Naseeruddin Shah, Shabana Azmi, and child artists Jugal Hansraj, Urmila Matondkar and Aradhana. Masoom won 5 Filmfare Awards including Best Actor's (Naseerudhin Shah).

The beautiful music of Masoom is directed by the legendary R.D. Burman. I have been asked for the song 'Nani Teri Morni Ko' from the 1960 Masoom numerous times so far, and I was searching for that song when I came across this great album. And I'm so glad I did. This one also has a great children's song (Lakdi Ki Kaathi). Enough from me, now you treat yourselves to some magic of Burman.

Hindi Song | Silsila (1981)

Here is another classic album for ya'll. Silsila is one of the most watched and most remembered Bollywood movies of all times. A really great movie and great music. It is directed by Yash Chopra and was surprisingly a flop when released. The star cast of Silsila includes Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bhaduri (now Jaya Bachchan), Shashi Kapoor, Rekha and Sanjeev Kumar.

Music of Silsila is composed by Shiv Hari. This is Shiv and Hari's first work together and they went on to create music for 6 more movies together (including Chandni). Dekha Ek Khwab is one song that I've known for as long as I can remember and is one of my favourite. I'm sure a lot of you are going to like this album.

Hindi Song | Caravan (1971)

Starring Jeetendra and Asha Parekh, Caravan is directed by Nasir Hussain. The beautiful music of Caravan is directed by R.D. Burman. Truly great songs. I'd heard some of them a few times before, and I've enjoyed them everytime I did. Well I know nothing about the cast and crew of the movie or the movie itself, so I have nothing to say.

Dilbar Dil Se Pyare is one song that I liked very much and was familiar with before.

Hindi Song | Mughal-E-Azam (1960)

With the release of Jodhaa Akbar around the corner, I thought we should revisit Mughal-E-Azam which was once the biggest film Bollywood had produced. I personally think it still is the biggest. Starring Dilip Kumar as Prince Salim, Madhubala as Anarkali and Prithviraj Kapoor in his biggest role ever as the Mughal emperor Akbar, it tells the love story of Prince Salim and Anarkali, a slave. It really is a must see film but you probably already know that.

Music of Mughale-E-Azam is by Naushad Ali who has composed some of the best songs of the Golden Era of Bollywood. The most notable songs of this album are Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya and Teri Mehfil Mein. You really need to watch the movie to appreciate the lyrics of these songs.

Hindi Song | Madhumati (1958)

Madhumati is a film by Bimal Roy and stars Dilip Kumar, Vyjayanthimala and Pran. If you haven't watched it yet, here's why you should: it was nominated for 9 Filmfare Awards and won ALL of them!!! Yes, all of them including best film, best director and best music director!!

The music composer who won the award for this film is Salil Choudhury. I personally like two of the songs a lot, Dil Tadap Tadap Ke and Suhana Safar Aur Yeh Mausam both sung by Mukesh and Lata Mangeshkar. There's something for Mohammad Rafi fans too. Enjoy!!
